Leslie Joy Ahenda

She holds a BA with distinction from the University of Victoria, and is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Guelph.

Leslie is a poetry editor for Augur Magazine, a Canadian literary magazine with a focus on speculative and surrealist poetry and fiction. Previously, she was an editorial intern with The Malahat Review, and she edited for three years on This Side of West, the University of Victoria Writing department’s undergraudate literary journal.

She has been a guest-editor for Contemporary Verse 2, and she has hosted speculative poetry workshops for Augur Magazine. She has hosted independent pedagogy workshops and poetry readings.

Leslie’s poetry has appeared in Contemporary Verse 2, filling Station, Plenitude Magazine and more. She is the author of Threnody for a Drowned Girl (Moon Jelly House, 2021).
